Your weekly roundup of the biggest gaming news, drama, and must-see updates.
Good morning!
This week I had to say goodbye to Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, which, yes, hurt me emotionally, spiritually, and possibly financially. But donāt worry, I processed my feelings the healthy way: by playing more video games.
In this edition, weāve got:
A heartfelt goodbye to KCD2ās final (and best) DLC
Industry chaos, layoffs, and Ubisoft doing⦠Ubisoft things
Hot takes spicy enough to melt your Steam Deck
Hereās everything you need to know this week in the world of gaming. Keep reading. Trust me, itās a good one.
Want your game in front of 11,000+ passionate gamers and industry decision makers? Get in touch.
Iām thinking about adding a new tier to the newsletter - Would you be interested in more deep-dive essays, behind-the-scenes breakdowns, and spicy takes on the biggest releases and industry drama.
(Your vote helps me decide if I should double down on essays⦠or keep yelling about GTA delays and quick news)

š Saying Goodbye to Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2
Mysteria Ecclesiae (a.k.a. āThe Monastery Plague Partyā)
Warhorseās third and final DLC for Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 drops us into the Sedlec Monastery, a gorgeous, crumbling holy hotspot where everyoneās mysteriously sick and the cats allegedly know more than they let on. This oneās a tight, story-driven mystery, not a combat playground, and honestly? Itās the strongest sendoff the gameās DLC lineup gets.
You play detective-monk (minus the vows), sneaking around after the monastery goes into lockdown, great news for players who always said, āYeah, Iāll use stealth someday.ā
Expect 10ā15 hours of new quests, characters, and moral quandaries that actually matter. Choices change endings, side quests feed into main quests, and occasionally the game rewards you for doing something just because you felt like it. We love intelligent design.
New faces worth meeting:
Albic ā royal physician, scholar, and the DLCās narrative backbone.
Zacharias ā Albicās former student, gives off āmedieval Casey Neistatā energy.
Abbot John III ā desperately trying to hold the monastery (and his sanity) together.
And yes, they take your weapons at the gate. Yes, youāll regret that later. No, you wonāt learn your lesson.
How it Stacks Against the Other DLC
A little context for the trilogy:
Brushes with Death ā a scattered scavenger hunt adventure. Fine. Totally skippable.
Legacy of the Forge ā the Smitty/settlement upgrade DLC. Useful, but light on story.
Mysteria Ecclesiae ā finally, an all-original, densely written expansion. The one that actually feels like a gift.
The Bittersweet Goodbye
This DLC isnāt a grand Blood & Wineāstyle farewell, it unlocks mid-game and isnāt built to close out Henryās saga. Still, knowing Warhorse is taking a long holiday and likely moving on to something fresh (and probably not KCD3⦠yet), Mysteria Ecclesiae ends up feeling like our unofficial curtain call.
KCD2 is one of the most immersive RPGs of the decade, and saying goodbye stings. But if this really is the last hurrah for a while? Itās a damn good one.
Verdict
Play it.
If you already have the expansion pass, bump this straight to the top of your list. It's sharp, atmospheric, cleverly interconnected, and packed with enough fresh content to justify dusting off Henryās āmonastery-appropriate outfit.ā
Farewell, KCD2. Weāll see you again in⦠six months, probably, when we all inevitably start another hardcore run.
